Playing in the Dark

Lent Day 15, Friday, March 21

Who among you fears the Lord
and obeys the voice of his servant?
Let him who walks in darkness and has no light
trust in the name of the Lord
and rely on his God. Isaiah 50:10

Life goes on, even when you have no light. When you are walking in the dark, you have to reach out for something. Isaiah gives two choices: you can fire up your own torches and lie down in torment (Isaiah 50:11) or you can trust in the name of the Lord and rely on God.

Ponder: Have you ever tried walking when it is completely dark? Reaching out with your hands and testing the ground with each step? How can you trust and obey? What would it look like for you to rely on God in the dark, confusing, frightening places of your life?

Praise: God is reliable and trustworthy. Reach out for him in the dark.
