Light Dawns in the Darkness

March 12, 2014

Lent Day 8 Thursday, March 13

Praise the Lord!
 Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;
he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. Psalm 112:1-4

Blessed is more than happiness. It means you are the object of God’s special favor and grace. Notice that the blessed man and woman combine reverent love (fear) with delight in the Lord and his law. God promises that light will dawn in the dark for the upright.

Ponder: Consider what it would look like to combine fear with delight in the Lord. Do you believe that God’s light will dawn in your darkness?

Praise: Light dawns in the darkness for the upright.
