Gatherings that inspire the people of Birmingham.

Beauty matters, and so do the people who make it. When we fail to slow down and enjoy the beauty of life, we grow disconnected from others and from ourselves. We are alive, but not fully living.

InSpero organizes gatherings to inspire people in Birmingham to connect through art, music, stories, food, and hospitality. Our hope is that each person leaves our events feeling more whole, hopeful, and empowered to live life more beautifully.

“I have heard it said that artists are prophets who remind us of beauty, truth, and goodness in a broken world. When I hear those words, I think of InSpero's impact on Birmingham. The artists in our city remind us all that beauty matters."

– Melissa Louden

“InSpero provides rest for my soul at the most crucial moments in my life."

InSpero provides rest for my soul at the most crucial moments in my life. Through retreats, events, and dinners they invite me to slow down, be seen, see the beauty around me, and rest – even if only for a moment. These moments give me what I need to go back to the world and my family with more strength and softness.”

“Over the last few years I have been watching good people like those of InSpero do good work here in Birmingham, seeing themselves implicated for love's sake in the way the city turns out. Their loves, lives, and vision are teaching us important things.”

Professor of Marketplace Theology and Leadership, Regent University

“Whether it’s someone who comes to an event or an artist who needs encouragement, one thing is true – InSpero brings hope and redemption into people’s lives. They shine a light on the arts by loving on the artists who make it. Their saying fits: “Beauty matters, and so do those who create it.” All are welcome at the feast that Inspero lays out, and all are valuable in transforming our city."

“There is a serious need for groups who are brave enough to offer a gracious middle space – a space where people can meet each other face-to-face in order to discover, perhaps to their surprise, the possibility of friendship, the possibility of healing, hope, and restoration. InSpero is such a group, and I thank God for them. Let me say that again: thank God for them!"

Author, Assistant Professor of Theology & Culture, Director of Brehm Texas

When Birmingham's creative community thrives, our city will thrive.

InSpero gatherings are nothing without the creative community that makes them possible. Unfortunately, many of Birmingham’s creatives are discouraged, fearing that the beauty they want to give the world will go to waste or has no value.

The heart of our mission is to build relationships with these artists, pastors, city visionaries, and other creatives to help them thrive. InSpero invites these world changers into a unified vision of Birmingham’s future – a story where their gifts encourage beauty, hope, and healing in our city.

InSpero exists to help creatives thrive because we believe that when Birmingham’s creative community flourishes, our city will reach its fullest potential.

Inspero Events in the time of COVID-19

InSpero loves to gather people together in events of beauty, hospitality, art, music, stories, food, and hope. In these times of uncertainty, our first concern is for the safety of each participant. Therefore, we have postponed all public events until our Board and the medical authorities agree that it is safe to gather with you again.

We are also concerned for the creative community of Birmingham. Artists, musicians, chefs, entertainers, and other creatives have been some of the most impacted by the pandemic. Please consider finding ways to support Birmingham’s creative community. Click here for local and national resources to help during the Covid-19 crisis.

We will continue to host livestream events such as the Writer’s Kiln, our online community where songwriters test, mold, and refine their music. To get a little bit of beauty in your inbox and to stay in-the-know on when InSpero gatherings will return, please Join the Community.

Stories That Transport Us: Hear These Birmingham Voices on June 8

Stories give us a thread of hope that there’s more to come and we can survive. They help us fight the lie that we’re alone. And as J.K. Rowling says, "There’s always room for a story that can transport people to another place.”
